FAST FIRST

I have a good memory-more like a photographic mind, that allows me to remember events that took place when I was in nursery school. A mind that still slide shows the awesome and the nasty things that happened many years ago before I even knew that babies are born and not dropped by helicopters in stealth mode at night while everyone is asleep- in 3D. You can say I am nostalgic or perhaps I wish that the good old days could run again in my current life even for a second; whichever you decide to stick with will make sense in a moment.

  

I recall the days when I was under a decade old, the times when nature and humans interacted perfectly. The days when parents used to spend more time with their kids, when kids used to go outside to play after hours of house chores, hard math homework and begging for permission from mommy. The days when we used to go to school barefoot with an exercise book surgically divided into two equal halves and half a pencil in between one of them; happy and smiling in the cold mornings_streams of thick mucus flowing from our nasal pipes and sometimes with empty bellies. But we survived. Today. The above and much more that took place during that time epoch are denoted by those who experienced it as "TBT" on social media platforms. Maybe as a way of informing the "Facebook" generation how life was simple then or it could serve as a reminder to quench their nostalgic thirst. Why all this story about the past? Well, I don't know about you but I am sure majority of my age-mates would pay anything to relive those awesome past moments again...moments like when we used to go watch rally cars zoom past our backyards with massive clouds of dust just to top on the fun. Back during the time when World Rally Championship was the event of events in East Africa. 

Those keen about motor sports know what went down as far as Safari Rally as a WRC event is in the topic. Maybe just to pass through: Safari Rally was a race held in East Africa. First installment was from 27 May to 1 June 1953 as the East African Coronation Safari in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania as a celebration of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. 

Safari Rally was notorious for being by far the most difficult rally in the WRC championship to win; winning it was equal to winning three other rallies as most claimed.Tough conditions such as constantly changing weather and very rough roads- often rife with sharp rocks made life very difficult for rally teams. The event was part of the World Rally Championship calendar for many years until being excluded after 2002 due to the lack of finance and organisation in 2003. 

The government of Kenya is trying to get the rally's WRC status restored. Yes, and I am glad to be part of the crew/team working hard to ensure that the good old days of dusty fun are back. This year FIA WRC Safari Rally Candidate Event will be held in July . This is the first time the FIA is hosting a Candidate Event in the African continent which is a precursor to a fully-fledged World Rally Championship Safari from 2020.

Good news and it keeps getting better. I am confident that Safari Rally will be reinstated to its former and greater glory in the WRC Calendar as stipulated, because of the massive effort and dedication put in by rally lovers towards realizing this goal. Safari Rally is not only a sport but also a passion worth fighting for with all the necessary effort and ability and that's what will go down. Motorsports junkies savvy this.

The concept behind the camera is understood by many, especially those who like photography. But the beauty behind it all is sharing it with the world. Let everyone see through your lens, allow them to appreciate a skill whose goal is to glorify the beauty behind adventure, fun, nature, and any other phenomena deemed worthy to be photographed under the sun.

As for me, the lens spans through a variety of interests. Ranging from the auto-mobile world to the natural world itself. Photography to me is a passion... I feel before I click a photo out of anything, that way I get guaranteed of perfection and awesomeness within a single flash. So here are some of the awesome raw armature photos I took last year (2018) during the Total Auto Show. Critiques feel free to educate me. Nothing builds skill more than unwithering criticism.

I think I did well given that it was the first ever Motor show I had attended (then) in my photography life. But I have to say, I learnt a lot during that show, met a lot of people and made few friends, and even had the privilege of  getting into and have a feel of the most expensive cars in that show; the red Bentley Continental GT and the black Bentayga; I don't experience this everyday you know. In conclusion, I had lots of fun and adventure in a place where the machines I love came to hang out. Looking forward to this year's installment of the same show, hoping to see even more awesome vehicles than last year. The adventure never ends, it keeps getting better and better.
